‘Sólo por estar solo’ (Only as a consequence of being alone) – Fundación Raíces Report

This report -presented in April 2014- explores the relevant practices concerning the age assessment of unaccompanied migrant children in Spain, who undergo medical examination regardless of the fact that they are in possession of a valid passport or other identity documents issued in their home country. This report focuses on the work started by Ignacio de la Mata, lawyer and strong defender of the rights of this migrant population until his death in 2012. Other lawyers in the 3 partner associations, authors of this report (Fundación Raíces, Fundación Abogacía española y MICAP), have continued to denounce age assessment practices conducted on unaccompanied children.

For further information, please consult the full report available on the website of the Fundación Raíces (in Spanish) : http://www.fundacionraices.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/SOLO-POR-ESTAR-SOLO.pdf
