MPI Webinar : 25th June 2014 : Unaccompanied Minors: A Crisis with Deep Roots and No Simple Solutions

This webinar organised by the Migration Policy Institute, independent think tank  dedicated to analysis of international migration, will take place from 3.30-4.30 pm CEST on Wednesday 25th June 2014.

Webinar on  the migration of unaccompanied minors to the USA

This event will focus on the  flow of unaccompanied children from Central America and Mexico to the United States which has surged 90 percent since last year, with government officials predicting that it might reach 90,000 by the end of the fiscal year in September—and perhaps 130,000 next year.

The webinar will concentrate on the factors causing this flow, its consequences, how the US Immigration service deals with these children, and both short and long term policy options in order to improve the reception and possible reversal of this migratory flow.

It will also preview a policy brief on unaccompanied minors that MPI will release in July.
